I hate to say this, but there is not much to see or do in Guayaquil, other than fly in/fly out, or catch a bus to somewhere else. But if you have the time, there is a really cool park, Parque de las Iguanas (Park of the iguanas), one full city block, that is full of iguanas. There are hundreds creeping around. The ponds in the park are full of turtles, also.
*A word of caution: if you get there early in the morning, before the iguanas come down out of the trees, beware... this is a time when they urinate, and it often sounds like a horse is up in the tree, raining pee down on the ground. At night the park appears empty, but the iguanas are there, they have all just climbed up into the trees and tall bushes.
